Adapted music lessons are available for children and adults of all ages.
Adapted music lessons are customized music lessons individually designed to meet the therapeutic, educational and/or personal goals of each student.
Alternative, modified educational approaches to learning music are utilized. Approaches used may include: color-coding of music, schedules, visual aids, behavior modification plans, in addition to modified music materials
Adapted music lessons usually focus on individualized music instruction. Instruments offered are piano, guitar, voice & percussion.
Both educational, personal and therapeutic goals may be addressed within the context of a one-on-one adapted music lessons.
Learning a new instrument can help to address therapeutic and personal goals. The skill and discipline required to learn a new instrument may address therapeutic goals of impulse control, increasing attention span, increasing self-esteem, promoting appropriate social skills, as well as give a student an appropriate outlet for self-expression and creativity, and socialization with peers.
